Crash during UHD+ resolution 3840x4320 using Resolve connector

  • Hi everyone,

I am having some trouble with a non-standard UHD+ resolution of 3840x4320. Voukoder crashes after 20-30 frames into the encode. The same project renders fine if I select HEVC (AMD AMF), and it also renders fine if I reduce the output resolution to something more reasonable.

    Davinci Resolve 18.1

    AMD 6900XT

    Windows 10

    HEVC (x.265)

General purpose 4:2:0 8bit recommended preset (but have tried pretty much all the others too)

    Latest 12.1 and connector

    Log attached.

This is a weird one because I can export without issues on an almost identical machine (5950x, 6900XT, W10, DR18.1).

    Thank you in advance!

    Best wishes,

    Robin

It doesn't crash. It actually finishes normally.

But I guess you tried to export more than 30 frames, right?

  • Correct, more like 150,000 :) But resolve also complains with "Failed" and critical exception bad allocation, or failed to encode video frame (it varies). Sometimes the program remains responsive, sometimes it takes the program down, sometimes it even takes the GPU driver down. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Radeon Pro driver and tried the normal drivers as well, same result.
