• Hi,

I"m a noob here, but love the concept. We are working in TV and Features, but have several of our team working between PC and Mac. Our Editors refuse to work in H264 due to legacy issues with the format. When I export, I'm using the Pro Res K (recommended). On my PC is registers as an MOV, but on the Mac side it reads MOV/MP4 aka H264.

Could you confirm that there is a native Pro Res / .MOV extension or is this Plugin for a wrapper only experience as an H264 dressed as a .MOV? If true .MOV / Pro Res then will both stations Mac and PC need the Plugin on both sides or only for the render side?

    Thanks for the help.

ProRes is a group of codecs.

    h264 is is a codec.

    MOV is a container format.

MP4 is a container format similar to MOV.

A container format can contain audio and video streams encoded with a codec:

This plugin can encode ProRes video streams combined with ALAC, AAC (and more) audio streams in a MOV (or MKV) container, yes. In this case no h264 is involved at all. Note: The ProRes encoders are not certified by Apple (but should still work).
